Who is Tom Campbell?
Thomas
Campbell did Eight Years Research as an Out-of-Body Explorer
Thomas
Campbell began researching altered states of consciousness
in the early 1970’s with Robert Monroe, founder
of The Monroe Institute. He and Dennis Mennerich helped
set up the lab and performed experiments leading to a
fundamental scientific understanding of out-of-body experiences.
Tom
is the "TC (physicist)" described in Bob Monroe's
second book "Far Journeys", and has
been a serious explorer of the frontiers of reality, mind,
consciousness, and psychic phenomena for nearly forty
years. His trilogy of books called My
Big TOE presents a scientific model of existence and
reality that is based directly on Campbell's research
and firsthand experience.
It
represents the results and conclusions of 35 years of
careful scientific exploration of the boundaries
and contents of reality from both the physical and metaphysical
viewpoints. By demanding high quality, repeatable, empirical,
evidential data to separate what's real (exists independently
and externally) from what's imaginary; Campbell has scientifically
derived a general model of reality that unifies physics
and metaphysics, normal and paranormal, mind and body.
The
most dramatic objective confirmation of the reality
of the out-of-body state for Tom was when Bob set up an
experiment in which they (Tom and Dennis) met in a specific
non-local area to simply observe and communicate to each
other and with non-local entities. Both Tom’s and
Dennis’s bodies were lying in isolation chambers
which were spatially separated and sound-proof. In each
unit was a microphone suspended from the ceiling to capture
their answers.
They
agreed to both go out-of-body and meet each other
a few hundred feet above the roof of the lab. After they
made contact in the out–of-body-state, Bob spoke
to them individually or simultaneously through headphones
while recording verbal description of their experiences
and conversations. Sometimes he would give them suggestions
for gathering information evidential information. Tom
and Dennis could not hear each other’s dialog or
responses.
When
the exercise was finished, Bob asked both if
they thought they had communicated with each other in
this state. They thought they had, but weren’t sure.
Until Bob ran the tapes. Two different tapes, each recorded
from a sound-proof unit provided a consistent record of
shared observations and communications. The objective
results made it clear that their experience in the out-of-body
state was shared and thus external and independent of
either of them. Tom recalls muttering “This stuff
is real!” over and over again for several days.
This
was one of those life changing profound experiences
for Tom because, as a scientist, there was no logical
possibility other than the obvious one: the subjective
information he gathered from the out-of-body state could
be objectively shared in the same way that physical reality
could be objectively shared. Tom has since been experimenting
with, and scientifically exploring, the properties, boundaries,
and abilities of the subjective and objective mind ever
since.
Some
of Tom’s early recordings with Bob Monroe (check
out tape numbers 3, 12, 16 and 24 amongst others) can
be accessed from the Monroe Institute web site.
He
currently works for NASA. Tom is doing Physics modeling
and risk analysis for them.
