UFOs turned off missilesBy Clas Svahn June 2, 2009 The Daily News (Sweden) (

I visited the lecture by Robert Hastings at the ABF House in Stockholm (an educational institute). Hastings is said to have evidence that American authorities are keeping secret the fact that US military bases are surveilled by aliens from other planets. Hastings has interviewed about 100 military people since his interest started in the [early 1970s].
Even though Hastings stated that we cannot be certain from where these craft are coming, he makes no apologies about his opinion. In several interviews he has said that the presence of alien spacecraft at nuclear weapons sites shows that those who are aboard do not want the Earthlings to blow themselves up and destoy their planet.
Whatever you may think about his theories, nobody can dismiss his thorough work and the documentation of the stories by witnesses.
In his book UFO and Nukes Hastings shows beyond doubt that military personel working at secret missile sites in the US have witnessed unidentified phenomena and objects. The witnesses ˆ and they are many ˆ also claim [that missile] failures have occured during the times the objects have been in close proximity to the sites. At least once, Hastings stated he has testimony indicating that the launch systems of [several] missiles were blocked during the time objects hovered over the missile silos.
When I asked Hastings, he said he still receives calls from ex-military personel who want to talk to him. There are many that have stories to tell but a few of them refuse to reveal their names.
During his lecture in ABF Huset last Monday, Hastings said that on one occasion a [former Atomic Energy Commission supervisor, Chet Lytle, who was a close friend of the Roswell base commander in 1947, then-Colonel William Blanchard] revealed to him that [an] alien spaceship definitely crashed in the US. When Hastings later approached [the AEC manager] he was met by silence. After a while he told Hastings he could say no more about it. After the first meeting with the [Lytle, the former AEC manager] said that he had been contacted by someone who had effectively silenced him. Hastings thinks the phone he used to to book the interview had been bugged/tapped.
Hastings and other UFO researchers' work shows that the American defense and intelligence communities take reports on UFOs seriously. In spite of that, [they do not communicate the seriousness of these matters down to the lower-ranking military personnel Hastings has talked to, unless it is absolutely necessary, to minimize the number of people who know the Top Secret status of these nuclear weapons-related cases]. Moreover, too many [of the lower-ranking personnel] have chosen not to report UFO observations to their superiors, a system-fault I myself seen within the Swedish military defense forces.
If the Ministry of Defense is not able to convince their own personnel to report observations of national security intertest, then they have failed considerably. The risk is that foreign airplanes ˆ who may threaten the country ˆ are never reported and such a result was most certainly never intended.
